William was baptized along with his son in the Methodist Church on April 17 1875, Ottawa, Kansas. He was initiated and entered apprentice to the Equity Lodge No 131 A.F. & A.M. on July 3 1877.  He was raised to sublime degree of a Master Mason.  William and his wife Anna were married at 12 noon Feb 1, 1863, in a log cabin 1 and 1/2 miles northwest of Old Stanton, Miami Co., KS.  He was a scout under General Sheriden in 1861.  In 1997 the cabin still stands and is located at 1146 Cedar St., Ottawa, KS.

Anna Bear is buried alongside her husband in Highland Cemetery.  It was difficult to find until we found out that she had remarried.  She married Benjamin Gould Sept 13, 1919.  This was the husband of her deceased niece, Nancy Ann Haigler Gould.

        William Daniel Nicosia, Jr., born 23 Oct 1944, Miami Dade Co., FL, died 18 Feb 2009, Spokane, WA.  They brought his body back and buried him in Woodland Park Cemetery, FL. #FAG 65159882.  He married Winnie Ann Frost, but they divorced. I don't know if there were children.
        A daughter Edith Muriel Nicosia, 22 Aug 1954, Miami, Dade Co., FL, is still living; I do not know if she married. When I saw her 17 yrs ago, she was single. Edith told me she lost her son, and I asked her where her parents were buried, and she said her mother was buried in New York and father buried in St. Petersburg, FL. Then she asked me if I wanted the information on her children, and I said, yes, I would love it. I told her about all the work you had done, and she could view it, and I would give her the web address. 
        Then she seemed really upset that I was asking questions, and she yelled at me.  She said, "I don't want any more to do with genealogy ever again in my life," and passed the phone to her husband Al.
        I gave him my e-mail, and he was going to give me the information on her children, but I have not received it. He did send me an article on President Lincoln's son. I found the information on William Daniel Nicosia on Ancestry, Social Security, and FindAGrave.
        There were other questions I wanted to ask, but I was absolutely dumbfounded at her attitude. I was hurt. I know she is getting old. So that is all I have to add to the site, except that we have since learned that her mood swing is very common in many dementia victims, which we now believe her to be."]

OBITUARY
     Agnes Symonds was born in Ossowatamie, Kansas.  She had a sister 10 years older; Cleva was her name.  Her mother was a furrier and taught her daughter the trade. They worked at Shukerts in Kansas City, MO. 
     She met the love of her life and married Lawrence Jennings Conner June 28, 1924. They had five children: Arline Jean, Madaline Virginia, twins Lawrence Jennings, and Robert Lowell.  Four children lived--one twin Robert died at six weeks of Whooping cough. 
     They lived in California where she continued with her work in the fur business.  She worked in Hollywood on Sunset Blvd. for Ormand Furs.  She fashioned the movie stars with furs and also did many of their homes in furs.  Jean Harlow had a bathroom done in pink fur.
     Agnes loved her family! They were the most important part of her life, and they loved her--the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, too. She lived a long life of 90 years.  She was always healthy but died of pneumonia 50 days after her husband Lawrence. They were married 65 years.  Her motto was, "Forgive and Forget."

OBITUARY
     Madaline was the second daughter of Lawrence and Agnes Symonds Conner. She went to Franklin High School, Highland Park, L.A. Co., CA.  She was in the choir and sang at the Rose Bowl and other places.  She graduated in 1946.
     Glenn Hickey and Madaline were bowlers, and they met and married 18 Sept 1948 in Huntington Park, CA.  They bought a 4-plex in Redondo Beach. Glenn became a L.A. fireman from which he retired.  They bought their final home in Torrance where they lived until 2013.  Madaline and Glenn were married for 58 years.  They both died at home; he passed away in 2006.
     They had three children: Stephanie Ann, b. 1956; Sterling Richard, b. 1956; and Stewart Glenn, b. 1962, d. 1995.
     Madaline was a great bowler and was on a bowling league for many years with Lockhead Aircraft.  She went into real estate and retired about 2000.
     She joined the Daughters of the American in Revolution in 1990.  She drove once a month many miles to the meetings and was instrumental in getting the members to subscribe to the DAR magazine.  She took line dancing and danced three times a week until she couldn't drive her car anymore. 
     Maggie leaves two children; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence J. Conner; one sister, Cordelia K. Fischer; and many nieces and nephews.   She will be surely missed by all!

We have added three great grandbabies this year. Two boys and one girl.  11 greats altogether.  We only have one grandchild in college at the moment. She got a scholarship to Berkeley. We have two still in high school.    

It's been awhile since I looked over my pages. I have a lot to do. I see entries and it says Facebook. Is that how you get the info.  Do you want me to add the birth dates etc.? I see you have Edith Murial Freeman/Nicosia/Affatato info but I don't think you have the death dates, Her 
Christmas card came back and I found her social security that she had passed away. Her daughter never informed me or did Al her husband. I don't know where he is.

Edith was daughter of Devyr Freeman born 25 Dec 1925 and died 2 May 2018, Miami Dade Co., FL, USA   Buried in Woodland Park North Cemetery and Mausoleum FAG # 194400084.  

I think I gave you the information on her son William Daniel Nicosia. Born 23 Oct 1944 and died 18 Feb 2009 FAG # 65159882. He passed in WA and shipped and is buried in the same cemetery as his mother. 
 
My great niece passed away a month ago and I will send you more info when I go through my chart.

I was hoping we would get up your way someday so we could meet in person. Hank just doesn't want to go very far. We were at our daughters a week ago. It was very hot and he was out by the pool watching the family swim. He went inside and he got sick and we had to call 911. His blood pressure was high and then it dropped so he went to the hospital.  Bottom line it was heat stroke. They hydrated and watched him and then released him at 11 O'clock that night. Our Grandson is a paramedic but he was working that day. He said he gets a lot of calls when the weather is so hot. They warn us to stay hydrated. Guess we should think twice at our age and do what they say.  You take care! If your down this way would love to see you.  I will start working on my line and send it to you.  Although I couldn't find him in the 1910 census, I'm fairly confident that this is our Jason E. Freeman (b. KS), son of William (b. IL) and Anna (b. IA).  I guess things didn't work out between him and Josie.  Divorce is always a shame, since God says He hates it. I wonder if they  ever had any kids.

 While it's not clear whether Edith is the daughter or granddaughter of Fannie, it is more likely that she is her granddaughter, since DeVyr is now widowed as well as Fannie (confirmed in 1940--see below).  I imagine the only error here is that of the census taker in calling Edith the daughter, not granddaughter, of Fannie. Regardless, if she's still alive, she's 89 years old this year, 2015.
