Kathy Kemp's source on my Rasco page (click Amanda's link below to go there) says that Isham was a doctor (confirmed below) and that his father, Nathaniel Burdine Wilson, lived in their home the last five years of Nathaniel's life; Patty Marshall Taylor, descendant of Ezekiel Monroe Wilson, brother 24.05 above, sent the following (rcvd. 16 Mar 2001): from CD #507, "Vital Records: Directory of Deceased American Physicians, 1804-1929" :

Below: Isham's gravestone at Riverside Cem., Demopolis, Marengo Co., AL. Its transcription is beneath the photo. It has no dates showing, so I believe it was broken off in an act of vandalism, then reset, and that the dates can probably be seen if one carefully digs a little below the surface of the ground.

you enter the cemetery, drive toward the river

"Junior Aviator Squadron"
Capt.
John Milner, 26-year-old pilot for Transcontinental
& Western Air, Inc., launched his aviation
careen in 1936 as an aerial butter and egg man and
the "flying newsboy of Arizona."
Following his graduation from the Ryan School of Aeronautics at San Diego, Cal., early in 1936, Milner purchased a 7-place plane and flew to Tucson, Ariz., where he signed a contract with the Citizen to deliver 20,000 copies of the newspaper daily to ten Southeastern Arizona towns. The newspapers were dropped in pouches at airports or other designated places to waiting carriers. Milner usually descended to within 25 or 30 feet of the ground so the sacks would not burst from the impact. But his air service was not limited to newspapers. He carried passengers and freight, even butter and eggs, on his daily 400-mile flights, landing only when it was necessary to deliver or pick up freight. After operating this service for almost a year, Milner, in 1937, became a pilot for the Grand Canyon Airlines and later the same year accepted employment as sales representative for 'Ryan planes in Arizona, New Mexico, California, Utah, and the State of Washington. In 1938 Milner became co-pilot for Catalina Airlines, flying from Los Angeles to the vacation resort off the coast of California. He resigned this position in May of 1939 to become a TWA co-pilot and checked out as a captain in July of 1941. He frequently flies one of the TWA transports over territory where he began his career as an aerial newsboy. On March 23, 1940, he married TWA Hostess Katherine Wilson who in June of 1939 was crowned "Miss American Aviation" at the National Air Carnival, Birmingham, Ala. They reside at 1919 Olathe Blvd., Kansas City, Kan. Captain Milner was born at Bowie, Ariz., and attended high school at Willcox, Ariz. Following his graduation he attended the University of Arizona and then enrolled in the Ryan School of Aeronautics in 1935. He soloed the same year. Model plane building is the flier's hobby. At present he is building a model of a B-17 four-engine bomber in his workshop. He has flown a half-million miles. Genealogy
I don't know if you already have this information or not.
James
Washington WILSON married Elizabeth McCULLEN in Dallas Co. on 29
OCT 1857. They were enumerated on page 785 of the 1860 Dallas
Co. census; they had one son, M. E. WILSON, age 1. I can't find
any of this family on a later census. James might have died in
the War Between the States. There was a James WILSON in CO. A
4th Ala. Infantry. This company was raised in Dallas Co.
I found an Antoinette ADAMS on p. 266A of the 1850 Dallas Co.
census age 2, and the head of the household was John D. ADAMS,
physician, with his wife, Arenath. This same family was
enumerated on p. 908 of the 1860 Dallas Co. census; it lists
Antoinette as 10 years old. On the 1870 Dallas Co. census,
A. ADAMS (widow of John D.) is head of the house, and Isham
WILSON and his wife Amanda are in the household. There was no
Amanda ADAMS on either the 1850 or 1860 Dallas Co. census.
Is it possible that Amanda A. is actually Amanda Antoinette Adams? Do you have a death date for Antoinette? I found where an Isham G Wilson married a Lovina Lockhart in Perry Co. on 11 Jul 1883. He was again a widower by the 1900 Marengo Co. census, ED 60 sheet 15B, stamped p. no. 64B. In the household with him were 3 of his sons: Bernice G., 27, Leonce, 18, and Ely R., 13. Bernice G. and Leonce Russell became lawyers, but I can't find Ely R. after the 1900 census. Leonce registered for the WWI draft in Marengo Co.
I hope everything is going
well for you.
Best regards,
Mark Hall
