1. In November 2002 Thelma Guinn Watson checked in. We're possibly--probably?--cousins through my gggg-grandfather Isham Gwin. Of course, neither Thelma nor I has any evidence--much less proof--of that yet. But posting her info here with mine is a good way for you readers to see these pages side by side and perhaps notice a connection based on information you have that we don't. So please contact either or both of us if you have something that may tie these lines together. Thelma and her husband Richard live in Stockton, MO. Contact her by clicking her link in this paragraph.
In addition, if your "unrelated" GWIN line is not here and you, like Thelma, would like me to build a similar page for your known family (or create a link to a page you've already prepared), please let me know. The cost to you is nothing, and I will serve as your webmaster for whatever information you send and tell me to publish. My intent here is simply to provide another avenue to help us all find the missing connections for which we've all been looking for so long!
Thanks so much for
visiting!
And THANK YOU, Thelma, for sending all these
goodies! :-)
2. In Dec 2012 Nancy
Brewer
of Carthage, MO, sent Rebecca's
obituary,
copied below. She also has created several
Findagrave.com
memorials based on its contents. Thanks for all this
good
input, Nancy!
Lines of people who married into Anson and Rebecca's family are linked to and listed below Anson and Rebecca's known line.
Obituary. The following
taken from
an Enterprise, Ore., paper [and published in
the February 13, 1890, edition of the Carthage
Weekly Press in Carthage,
Jasper County, Missouri] will be of
interest
to many of our readers who were acquainted with
and loved the deceased:
DIED: At Enterprise, Ore., Jan. 14, 1890, Rebecca E. Gwinn, aged 73 years, 9 months, and 4 days. The deceased's maiden name was Harvey. She was born in East Tennessee April 8th, 1816, and married Major Anderson Guinn at Jonesboro, same state, Dec. 17, 1835. He still survives her. During this union, she was the mother of ten children, six boys and four girls One daughter, Mrs. Sarah E. Landers, mother-in-law to Mr. Dale, of this place, with whom she lives, and five sons, one being here with his father, two, J. B. and S. E. Guinn, both living in Jasper county, Mo., Joe in Dade county and William in Cedar county of same state, together with the devoted husband and a large circle of warm family friends are left to mourn the loss of an affectionate mother, a dutiful wife, and a most exemplary woman. The husband of Mrs. Landers was a soldier in the Union army and was killed while thus serving his country, near Ft. Smith, Ark. The Guinns are all known as very industrious citizens, the Major being seventy-six years old this month. He has been a man of iron will and constitution but is much prostrated by his great loss. The Guinns moved to this county from Dade county, Mo., some time last July in order that the health of deceased might be improved. When she left Missouri, she had been unable to walk for some time, but was not here long until her health so improved that she was able to look after the affairs of her house. But on the morning of the 14th she was suddenly stricken down with a chill, from the effects of which she died on the morning of the 15th. Mr. Dale, who married the granddaughter of the deceased, will see that the aged husband has the comforts of a home and the care his condition requires. |

08. MY
RECORDS
will now indicate this person as "Anson Guinn" because of
the census records showing this name only, and no initial.
Research will continue in an effort to determine: (a) if
Anson
had another given name (possibly William or James) and (b) who his
parents are, their names and places of birth. --Thelma Guinn Watson--14
