SOURCES:
1.  In May 2004, Ms. Jean Holland contacted me to see if there was any chance we were working on the same lines.  While such doesn't appear to be the case at this time, she graciously consented to share her information with us here in the event other researchers may have complementing data.  If you're one who does, please contact Jean at jlhrsh at comcast dot net or me at jmcdgwin@zianet.com. Thanks!--John Gwin

2.  We have used Jean's data to search the census records and have found additional data on this family as cited throughout.

3.  Various contributors to Findagrave.com--such as Airrow , booklover, Juanita Sloan Lowrance, and others--have generously shared data as well as cited below.

Meet Ezra and his five children!

25.00--Ezra T. Gwin, m1. ca. 1870 to Mary Catherine Dickey

26.01--William T. Gwin,  m. 16 Jul 1892 in Wayne Co., IL to Rebecca Ellen Keen;

26.02--Salina L. Gwin, m. 30 Jun 1888 in Wayne Co., IL to Jacob Brewer;

26.03--Robert F. Gwin,

26.04--Charles Newton Gwin, m. Florence Ellen Whitson
ETG m2. Mary Jane Cook
26.05--James Samuel Gwin

And now here they are in more detail!

25.00--Ezra T. Gwin, b. abt. 1834 in OH/NJ/NJ; d. 12 Oct 1896 in unk; bd. unk.; m1. ca. 1870 to Mary Catherine Dickey (b. 17 Oct 1843 [in Walker Co., GA?] d/o William Dickey and Saina Vernon; d. 3 Feb 1878 [in Wayne Co., IL?]); four ch. (five total); m2. ca. 1878 to Mary Jane Cook (b. ca. 1847 in VA/PA/PA; d. unk.; bd. unk.); one ch. (five total);

[listed as Ezra Gwin, clerk in drugstore, age 46, b. OH/NJ/NJ, in the 7 Jun 1880 census of Nineveh, Adair Co., MO]

[listed as Mary J. Gwin, age 33, b. VA/PA/PA, in the 7 Jun 1880 census of Nineveh, Adair Co., MO]

[Jean Holland Note--unk. date In the 1880 census, Ezra says his parents were from New Jersey.  He bought land in Douglas Co., MO, in 1892. Also, when he left the National Home for Disabled Soldiers in 1895, he gave as his closest relative Elizabeth Jane Gwin in Thorn (?) MO. I don't know who she is!  To confuse things, there were apparently two Ezra Gwins born in Ohio, maybe the same county, at about the same time.  I say apparently, because you never know!  But the other Ezra married someone named Hannah Baldwin, and I believe that they lived out their lives in Ohio, except for a short time in Michigan. I would guess that they might be related, but I don't know.  The Gwin family always thought that they were from Wales, and then North Carolina.  But I don't know how accurate that is.]
