Can we
find this person and see more of this obit? Until we know for sure otherwise, it seems to me that this COULD be Stanley Sr. |

I guess that's not the one I'm looking for. The one I'm looking for had 2 sisters. Marie and Elizabeth. Notify Administrator about this message? Followups: No followups yet |

Age: | 44 | Stephen, this is clearly your
grandfather's family--Sophie, Sylvia, and Henry.
Your dad is missing, but he's probably already married and moved out on his own. No, that can't be true, since I just found Natalie Bright in LA, CA, in the 1940 census. Aha: perhaps he'd already enlisted in the Air Force and stationed in southern California, and that's how he met her there. |

Hey, look who we found in 1930! Now we have the year he immigrated--when he was only about one or two years old. That means the chances are very good of finding him with his parents (a) in the 1900 and 1910 censuses and/or (2) on the passenger list of the ship on which they came over. (See a possible 1910 census return below.) |

Not only have we found Stanley and Sophie, we've found her parents and younger brother as well! Her maiden name is Pazdzioh, then (unless the census enumerator misspelled it, of course). And your dad's POB is New York, not Poland, and he is indeed listed as a "Jr.". |

CAUTION:
At this point we
have few clues that would confirm this to be our Stanley.
In later censuses, we have Sophie's and their kids' names and ages which verify conclusively that Stanley is indeed ours. But here we have only three criteria that should match up: (1) his age, (2) his and his parents' POB, and (3) their year of immigration. On both of the first two, there's room for "cheating": younger men tended to lie from time to time to make themselves look older (women vice-versa), and German immigrants tended to use alternate citizenships to steer clear of harassment here during and after the World Wars. But the immigration date provided no reason to lie, and so, of all the possible Stanley Levandowski's we saw, this one was only a year off from the 1897 date listed in the 1930 census. Therefore, it seems possibly closest to being ours, though not necessarily so. |
