Tonight I returned to this old page of mine. First I tried
a search on FindAGrave.com (see below). Then I searched
the 1940 census of Michigan for Betty Jean Gwin with parents Al
and Emma and found the following possible hit for this Gwin
family, the only conflicting data being Betty Jean's age--Sam
told me she was b. in 1938, but clearly this reveals her YOB as
ca. 1935:]

were married in 1979 at Ft. Lee, VA, by an Air Force chaplain
(see below).]

know if this is the father of our Emma Betty, but this
man's wife's name is Emma B. (and daughters were often
named for moms), and this family does live in MN which
is next door to Michigan; further, the last name and
dates are right, so there's a real possibility here, but
nothing concrete yet.

Hi John,
My name is Sam Benson. I am doing family research on my
mother's side and have hit a road block.
My mother's maiden name was Betty Jean Gwin, b. 9/17/1938 in
Muskegon, Mi. Her first marriage was to Samuel B. Lunsford,
Second Marriage to David O. Benson.
Her Mother's Name was Emma Betty Schock.
Her Father's Name was Al ?? Gwin (my mother had stated he was
called Al). Not sure if that was his full name.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

relative. The listing of her
husband confirms that this is indeed our Betty Jean and
eliminates all but one of the possible Findagrave memorials
below. Further, since our SAM BENSON is also a
child of David and Betty Jean, then he must be a brother of
this David Oscar Benson, Jr. and brother-in-law of this
Suzanne Patrice Simpson Benson.
